A Day for Mother Earth July 7, 2022  | Theme: Celebrating Nature - Say NO to Single Use Plastics

 

 

Sikkim State Government's unique green initiative of dedicating "A Day for Mother Earth" on July 7th every year since 2019 was celebrated for the 4th consecutive year on July 7, 2022 with great zest and fervor across the State. This year's theme was "Celebrating Nature - Say NO to Single Use Plastics". The day was observed as a part of Hariyali Saptah celebrated across the country w.e.f 1st July to 9th July under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The state level event was organized by Forest and Environment Department at Golitar, Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary on July 7, 2022. The event witnessed a clean up drive from Ganesh Tok to Tashi Viewpoint at Gangtok graced by the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad as the Chief Guest and the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang as the Guest of Honour. The stage event was followed by at Golitar, FWLS. Several other political dignitaries, NGOs and local Associations, students and public at large participated in the programme.
