The Government of Sikkim in 2019 had launched a new green initiative of dedicating “A Day for Mother Earth” on 7th of July every year. Likewise, this year also, the State Government will be celebrating the day with great zest and fervour taking up environment friendly activities across the State. The theme for this year's celebration is "Celebrating Nature - Say NO to Single Use Plastics". The state level event is being organised by Forest and Environment Department at Golitar, Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary on July 7, 2022. The event will also witness a clean up drive from Ganesh Tok to Tashi View Point at Gangtok being graced by the Hon'ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad as the Chief Guest and the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang as the Guest of Honour. Similar other events are being held across the State.
