Chosen on the day of Summer Solstice, the International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated on 21st June every year. The day celebrates the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world stage. Around 175 nations from all across the world, including China, Canada and USA promote the resolution of United Nations General Assembly. The IDY Logo symbolizes Yoga, which is a holistic move towards health and well-being. The logo with folded hands (yoga posture) means the union of individual and universal Consciousness, harmonizing mind & body along with man & nature. The logo contains the words “Yoga for harmony and peace”, which is the ethos of Yoga.

 

IDY 2022 is the 8th edition of the International Day of Yoga. The United Nations General Assembly recognized 21st June as the International Day of Yoga at the initiative of Hon`ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2014 via a unanimous vote.

 

The theme of this year of International Day of Yoga will be “Yoga for Humanity”. The main event of the IDY- 2022 demonstration will be held at Mysuru, Karnataka led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
