This year, WHO celebrates it with a theme of “Our planet, our health” to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being.

Fire Safety Week
April 14-20, 2022
The Fire Service Week (FSW) is observed countrywide under the leadership of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India during 14th - 20th April. On this day, in the year 1944, the fire service personnel demonstrated exemplary bravery and dedication to duty as they fought the huge fire that had erupted after an explosion at Victoria Docks in Mumbai Port. Many fire fighters lost their lives, leaving behind their names etched in the minds of people forever and as a reminder for all the sections of society, business and Industry to evaluate their fire safety requirements, develop appropriate plans for fire prevention, control, rescue and rehabilitation and commence a campaign for fire safety during the FSW. The FSW aims to sensitize public on Fire Safety and Fire Prevention and there by promote national prosperity.

World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites

The International Day for Monuments and Sites is an International Observance celebrated every year on 18th April. The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) proposed this day in 1982, which was further endorsed by the UNESCO in 1983. It aims to promote awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage of humanity, their vulnerability and the efforts required for their protection and conservation.
The theme for 2022 is “Heritage and Climate”. The day is also known as World Heritage Day.
