World Health Day

World Health Day is celebrated internationally on 7th April to raise awareness about global health issues and concerns. This day coincides with the foundation day of the World Health Organization (WHO), therefore in this 70th anniversary year, WHO is calling on world leaders to live up to the pledges they made when they agreed the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, and commit to concrete steps to advance the health of all people.
The WHO’s theme for 2018 is: “Universal health coverage: everyone, everywhere”, to ensure that everyone can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardships.

Fire Service Week
April 14-20, 2018
The Fire Services Week (FSW) is observed nation-wide under the guidance of the Fire Adviser, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India during 14th-20th April. This is in remembrance of the lives lost in the devastating fire and explosions that followed on 14th April 1944, at the Victoria Dock in Bombay Port.
The National Safety Council has been propagating this week since 1999, as a grim reminder to all the sections of society, business and industry to review their fire safety needs, develop suitable strategies for fire prevention, fire control, rescue and rehabilitation and undertake a campaign for fire safety during the FSW.

World Heritage Day
April 18, 2018
World Heritage Day is an annual event celebrated on 18th April every year. It aims to preserve the human heritage and recognize the efforts of all relevant organizations in the field. In 1982, the International Council on Monuments and Sites announced, 18th April as the “World Heritage Day”, approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1983.
This special day offers an opportunity to raise public awareness about the diversity of cultural heritage and the efforts that are required to protect and conserve it, as well as draw attention to its vulnerability.

The Earth Day is observed globally on 22nd April. This day is about appreciating the uniqueness of our planet Earth with its incredible biodiversity, along with raising awareness on the issues, the planet is facing today.
For the year 2018, this day would focus on mobilizing the world to end Plastic Pollution, including creation of support for a global effort to eliminate single-use plastics along with global regulation for the disposal of plastics.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an annual international day celebrated on 28th April in support with the United Nations and the International Labour Organization in order to stress on the prevention of accidents and diseases at work.
The theme for 2018 is: “Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) vulnerability of young workers” to improve the safety and health of young workers and end child labour.
