World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought has been observed every year on 17th June since 1995 to promote public awareness relating to international cooperation to combat desertification and the effects of drought, and the implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The Day can be celebrated through organizing activities such as seminars, media events and campaigns.
The theme for the 2014 World Day to Combat Desertification & Drought is “Land Belongs to the Future- Let’s Climate Proof It”.
