International Mountain Day 2024, is being observed on 11th December, with this year’s theme being “Mountain Solutions for a Sustainable Future – Innovation, Adaptation, and Youth,” highlighting how mountain communities have developed solutions over centuries to adapt to their harsh environments, deal with climate change, reduce poverty, and protect or restore biodiversity. 

IUCN is organising an International Mountain Day 2024 event- “Youth for the Himalaya: Innovate, Inspire, Impact” on 11th December 2024, under the aegis of Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC). The theme for this year is ‘Mountain Solutions for a Sustainable Future – Innovation, Adaptation, and Youth’.

In this context there is an opportunity for limited number of students (above class 8) from Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) to participate in this event online.
