FRO Trainees from Himachal Pradesh provided insights on Sikkim Forest and Environment practices

November 1, 2022 | Gangtok: The 6th batch of Forest Range Officers trainees undergoing training at Himachal Pradesh Forest Academy, Sundernagar during their East India Study Tour met and interacted with Sikkim Forest and Environment Department officers in a programme held at Sidekong Tulku Forest Conference Hall, Deorali, Gangtok on the afternoon of November 1, 2022. Total 41 FRO trainees from states across the country viz Kerala, Andra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh along with a trainng coordinator Shri Piyush Sharma, ACF from Himachal Pradesh Forest Departrment represented the touring participants. The programme was chaired by CCF(HQ) Shri N. W. Tamang IFS and also attended by CF(T) Shri Karma Legshey IFS, Director  (Planing, E&SC, ENVIS) Shri B. B. Gurung IFS, Director(HZP) Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, DFO(SBB) Smt Bhumika Rai, DFO(SF) Smt Srijana Chettri and other officers and scientists of the department.

 

During the programme, the FRO trainees were given insights on various forestry, environment and wildlife activities of the Sikkim state through powerpoint presentations by DFO(SBB) Smt Bhumika Rai and Sr. Programme Officer (ENVIS) Shri Rajen Pradhan. A short video on status of environment was also showcased on the occasion. The CCF(HQ) and CF(T) also deliberated on state's current issues and practices, and also interacted with the trainees during the discussion and Q&A sessions. The FRO trainees expressed their gratitude to the depatment for a well organised tour. The trainees were also taken for exposure visit to Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary, Tsomgo Lake, Himalayan Zoological Park and Bulbulay Plant Conservatory during the ealrier part of the day.
