Tungkyong Dho (lake) at Dzongu notified as Biodiversity Heritage Site

Tungkyong Dho (lake) at Hee-Gyathang GPU, Dzongu, North Sikkim has been officially notified as Biodiversity Heritage Site.

Sikkim Biodiversity Board on March 8, 2022 had declared Tungkyog lake in Hee-Gyathang, Dzongu, North Sikkim as a Biodiversity Heritage Site. The annoucement was made at an event organised by the Hee-Gyathang Gram Panchayat and Hee-Gyathang Biodiversity Management Committee supported by the Sikkim Biodiversity Board. On the occasion, the logo of Hee-Gyathang BMC was also released. The function had the presence of Conservator of Forests Shri Udai Gurung IFS, who is also the Member Secretary, Sikkim Biodiversity Board as the chief Guest. A gram sabha was also convened after the annoucement.
