October 12, 2022 | Gangtok: Zuventus Health Care Ltd. becomes the state's first pharmaceutical industry to hand over the amount of Rs 5,26,500/- as payment for ecosystem services (consumption of Natural Water) to the State Government. In a brief programme held today at the office of the Hon’ble Minister Forest Shri Karma Loday Bhutia and in presence of ACS-cum-PCCF Shri M L Srivastava, CF(T) Shri Karma Legshey and other officers of the department, Zuventus Health Care Ltd represented by Shri V.K. Chaturbedi, Vice President (Plant Head) and Shri Vijendra Singh, Manager (EHS) handed over a cheque of Rs 5.26 lakh as a payment towards consumption of natural water for industrial purpose for the period July 2022 to March 2023 as laid under Sikkim Payment for Ecosystem Services Rules, 2022 notified in Sikkim Gazette dated 18th of July 2022. The payment so received shall be credited in the state revenue.
The Hon’ble Forest Minister is his press brief acknowledged and appreciated Zuventus Health Care Ltd for being the state's first pharmaceutical industry to hand over the payment for ecosystem services. He also mentioned that Teesta Urja Ltd is the first hydro-electric project in Sikkim to do the same and informed that Teesta Urja Ltd has already made payment of Rs. 87.70 crore to the state revenue. Further, he appealed to all the industrial sectors to comply with Sikkim Payment for Ecosystem Services Rules, 2022 and requested them to credit the amount due at the earliest.
