Green Teachers Orientation on Earthian Schools Programme and School Nursery Yojana 2022 held

Sikkim ENVIS Hub of Forest and Environment Deaprment conducted a day-long capacity building activities for 30 green teachers as a part of NGC Eco-Club programme at Forest Conference Hall, Gangtok on 18th of July 2022. Total 30 schools across the State participated with representative green teachers in an orientation programme on WIPRO earthian schools programme and School Nursery Yojana co-sponsored by WIPRO and Green India Mission (GIM). 10 Schools were provided grant-in-aid of Rs 50,000 each along with resource materials and kits for creating School Nurseries to raise 1000 saplings and take up greening activities. The earthian schools programme focusing on sustainability of Water, Biodiversity and Waste Management in 20 schools was launched for the current academic session. WIPRO associate Mr Ashish Shah was the resource person while several officers of the department N W Tamang CCF(HQ), B B Gurung Director(ENVIS), Kusum Gurung Joint Director (ENVIS), Chewang Tashi Bhutia ACF(Reserach), Rajen Pradhan Sr. Programme Officer (ENVIS), Sunita Khatiwara Project Officer (Research), Netra Bahadur Chetri Head Mali (Pangthang Nursery) were other key speakers on the occasions.
