The State Government observed the Van Mahotsav (July 1-7), 2021 and state function ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ on July 7, 2021 across the State. On the occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, other political dignitaries along with the senior officers planted saplings at the premise of Government Sr. Secondary School, Dentam, West Sikkim. Whilst the programme was observed with official function organized by the Forest and Environment Department at all four districts with participation by political dignitaries, urban and local bodies, panchayats and local public, the state level programme organised at Dentam Govt. Sr. Secondary School in West Sikkim was attended by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) as the chief guest along with other political dignitaries, HODs, panchayats, officers, teachers, students and general public.

 

The major and unique feature of stopping  all vehicular movement except emergency and essential services for seven minutes from 11.00 am to 11.07 am on July 7, 2021 and was dutifully participated by the nature loving people of the State. On the occasion, online competitive event winners of quiz, painting, slogan writing, photography and videography competition and Rajya Van Samrakshan Evam Paryavaran Puraskar 2021 were handed over cash prizes and souvenir. The field officers under Forest and Environment Department involved in official duty for management of COVID19 pandemic in coordination with Police department were also awarded with certificate of Appreciation.
