Ban on Styrofoam Products in Sikkim
Sikkim State Government through Notification No.26/Home/2016 dated 19/05/2016 has imposed ban on sale and use of disposable items such as cups, plates, spoons, containers etc made from Styrofoam throughout the State with immediate effect. Sikkim becomes the first Indian State to ban Styrofoam products.

Ban on Use of Mineral Water Bottles in Government Functions and Meetings in Sikkim
State Government through Notification No.25/Home/2016 dated 19/05/2016 has imposed ban on use of packaged drinking water bottles in any government functions and meetings to reduce the creation of garbage. Use of filtered water or large reusable water dispensers or reusable water bottles during government functions encouraged. Sikkim becomes the first Indian State to ban mineral water bottles in government programmes:
