GREEN Olympiad for Youth (GO4Youth) launched in 2020, is on the side-lines of GREEN Olympiad- a leading school-based initiative of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). GO4Youth is an annual MCQ-based examination for students in age group of 18 – 25 years enrolled in Higher Education institutions (HEIs) in India. Since the formal adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, governments and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been calling out to youth for a meaningful participation in decision making and implementation of post 2015 agenda. Against this commitment, the journey started with an endeavour to strengthen environmental conscious behaviour and attitude of youth, thereby enhancing their awareness about climate change, pollution, waste management, sanitation, conservation of biological diversity, management of biological resources and biodiversity, forest and wildlife conservation, and sustainable development and living. The examination follows an interdisciplinary approach, enriches environment quotient of youth and also covers information highlighted in Mission LiFE and other national priority schemes.
GO4Youth is endorsed by University Grants Commission (UGC); Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
