Forest and Environment Department, Government of Sikkim has launched an Online Marking Order System (https://markmytree.nic.in/). All the processes involved for obtaining marking order is simplified and digitized and the public don't have to come to forest offices for obtaining marking order, thus helping the public in saving both time and costs. This initiative is part of the Government of Sikkim's efforts to provide doorstep delivery of public services.
A marking order is a permission granted by the Forest and Environment Department to any citizen who seeks to apply for felling of standing trees for various purposes. Marking Order is granted under Sikkim Private and other Non-Forest Lands Tree Felling Rules, 2006 formed under Sikkim Forests, Water Courses and Road Reserve (Preservation and Protection) Act, 1988.
Application for Marking Order will be accepted from 1st October till 30th April only every season.
