Advertisement for JRF/SRF Temporary Post

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to fill up the followingtemporary post under Working Plan Circle, Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department, Government of Sikkim for assisting in the project “Measurement of Vegetation and Biomass Parameters under Vegetation-Carbon Pool Assessment (VCP) Sub-project of the ISRO Geosphere Biosphere Program- National Carbon Project”.

ELIGIBILITY:


Essential Qualifications:

 

1.  M.Sc. (Botany/Forestry/Other Biological Sciences {Life Science/Ecology}) with 60% marks (5% relaxation for the reserved categories candidates) from a recognised University or equivalent.

2.    Excellent knowledge and experience in identification of trees, shrubs and herbs in the Forest and measurement of inventory parameters such as diameter, girth at breast height, height of trees etc. in the vegetation plot.

3.    Excellent knowledge and skills in Computer applications (MS -Excel, MS –Word, MS Power Point etc).

 

Desirable work experience/qualifications:

a. Field work experience in the field of ecology, taxonomy, botany, zoology, biological forestry.

b. Excellent knowledge of flora & fauna of Sikkim.

c. Excellent communication skill in Nepali & English. 

d. Experience in handling GPS devices and basic knowledge on Geospatial Technologies.

e. Physically fit for extensive travel and trek in the mountainous region.

 

 

NATURE OF ASSISTANCE

The tenure of fellowship is initially for a period of two years as a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).  On completion of two years, the work of fellow will be evaluated and if found satisfactory, his/her tenure will be extended for a further period of one year with enhanced emoluments as a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). Thus, the total period of fellowship (JRF and SRF) is three years, which is non-extendable.

 

The assistance available is as follows:

 

Fellowship

@ Rs. 16,000/- p.m. for initial two years

@ Rs. 18,000/- p.m. for the third year

HRA

@ 15% of fellowship assistance

 

Mode of Application:

Candidates must submit the application in the format given along with the following documents:

  1. Copy of certificate of Identification/Sikkim Subject.
  2. Attested copies of educational qualification from Class X onwards.
  3. Work experience certificate, if any.
  4. Copy of valid employment card.
  5. All other relevant supporting documents.

 

Mode of Selection:

Received applications will be scrutinized, and short listed candidates will be called to appear before the selection committee. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. The decision of the Committee will be final and binding. The Committee reserves the right to withdraw/cancel the award without assigning any reason.
