Sikkim ENVIS Hub at Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department coordinated several apiary management activities at bee farms of 25 GSDP Beekeeping tarinees to commemorate World Bee Day on May 20, 2020. The  UNEP designated theme "Bee Engaged" embarked upon highlighting the importance of traditional knowledge related to beekeeping, the use of bee-derived products and services, and thier importance in acheiving the SDGs.

The 25 bee farmers, product of training under the Green Skill Development Programme conducted during the month of January 2020 effectively used social media platforms to spread awareness on the protection of bees. The bee farmers on the day monitored, stalked, cleansed and carried apiary managment activitites of thier respective apiaries. These farmers have been practicing scientific beekeeing with traditional knowledge to harvest pure honey to support livelihood also thriving the bee colony sustainbly.
