A State level steering committee meeting for approval of draft Management Action Plan 2018-19 for KNP held

A State level steering committee meeting for approval of draft Management Action Plan (MAP) for Khangchendzonga National Park (KNP) for the year 2018-19 was held at Sidkeong Tulku Forest Conference Hall of Forest Secretariat, Deorali on August 9, 2018.
The meeting was chaired by Shri M. L. Srivastava,IFS PCCF-cum-Secretary, Forest Environment and Wildlife Management Department (FEWMD). The other committee members present were Shri C. S. Rao, Additional PCCF (FEWMD), Dr. Tashi Wangdi, Director from Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Shri Sonam Y Lepcha, Secretary (DPER- NECRD) , Shri Senthil Kumar, IFS, Commissioner (RMDD), Shri B.S Siktel, IFS, Director (KNP/KBR) and all the officers of KNP/KBR and representation from 21 Eco-Development Committee and panchayats of fringe villages of KBR.
The draft MAP was presented before the committee by Shri Sangay Gyatso Bhutia, Joint Director (KNP/KBR). After thorough discussion of all the components of MAP by the committee, it was agreed upon by all the committee members to pass the draft MAP plan with necessary inclusion and deletions of components as discussed during the consultation, to be further submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India for approval and sanction.
